Zimoun: Exhibitions and Projects 2008/2009
TobiasDecember and January alone will see him either perform live or present some of his installational work to the public at various venues and art spaces all over Europe and the USA. Included on the menu are an appearance at the Foyer of Stuttgart’s Staatsgalerie (where Zimoun will be joined by local artists Mark Lorenz Kysela and Jörg Koch as well as Hamburg-based Pianist Sebastian Berweck), an exhibition at the pro progr festival in his hometown of Bern (an event comprising anything from dancefloors to ‘open studios’, smeared out over Christmas time and aimed at securing a local club offering galleries and performance spaces) as well as presentations at two of Germany’s leading festivals for multimedial art: The “Stuttgarter Filmwinter” and Berlin’s “Transmediale”.
Ever since receiving a grant for an extended artistic stay from the Culture Department of the Canton Bern, Zimoun has also established firm and fruitful ties with the cultural community of New York. It should come as no surprise then that his work is continuing to garner attention there, with the Bitforms Gallery at 529 West 20th Street featuring his work in a month-long exhibition starting January 22nd.
Since 2002, Zimoun has established himself as one of the few artists on the Swiss scene capable of professionally excelling in many different creative categories: Next to his musical endeavours, he has also published photographic works next to holding lectures and workshops all around the world.
