Review/ Nachtgeschrei: "Am Rande der Welt"

img  Tobias

Germany is currently riding a Pagan/Medieval Metal wave; it seems as though demand is huge. As a result, lots of bands are emerging from every corner of the country, ready to dethrone In Extremo & Co and every music label is eager to find that one precious pearl.

All 11 songs on “Am Rande der Welt” could be a potential hit on the German charts and it is possibly only a question of time until one will eventually indeed hear more about them. Nachtgeschrei are using traditional instruments, but Metal is still playing an important part. The music is firmly melodic as well, pushing you to reflect about freedom and mankind, especially in this year 2009, 20 after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The only thing that could work against Nachtgeschrei is that they are not singing in English, which can be inconvenient in order to attain international recognition; moreover the singing is really traditional German. Nevertheless, German speakers will love it and will surely sing along after a few spins as both the music and lyrics are very carrying.

I am really enjoying listening to Am Rande der Welt, it simply won't leave my CD player.
