Lymbyc Systym: Field Studies in Europe

img  Tobias

The connection with This Will Destroy You on “Field Studies” was a completely natural one for Lymbyc Systym and the result sounds like two well-adjusted formations with a shared sense for experimental aesthetics and a dreamy sound. Compared to their colleagues, Lymbyc Systym have however never made no bones about their deep interest in integrating electronics into their arrangements: Pieces on their full-length “Carved by Glaciers” contained discreet electronic effects and backwards loops and on “Love Your Abuser”, they allowed befriended ensembles to offer their take on the original album’s material. Produced by John Congleton (who also signed responsible for the production of This Will Destroy You’s eponymously titled new album), the tracks on “Field Studies” again combine sensations of sweetness and melancholia into an electrifying sonic cocktail.
