KILN: From Dawn to Dusker
TobiasWhile KILN could be compared to various other bands on “Dusker” – from a spaced-out version of Trans Am to a folkdream of Boards of Canada – they have managed to secure a definite and remarkable space of their own thanks to a composing style which combines techniques from the world of electronic and progressive rock music: Sending documents from one PC to the other and continually reworking their pieces until all structures have smoothened out into a radiating and deep texture of high inner complexity.
Subsequently, each track on “Dusker” is now both refined and mysterious. From the subliminal dub messages of “Rustdusk” to the melodic quirkiness of “Templefrog”, the pieceful meditation “Arq” and the dark, filigree funkiness of closing opus “Tigertail”, KILN have truly turned “Dusk” into the audio gallery they promised.
A special focus for KILN on “Dusker” was the integration of acoustic instruments into futuristic electronic soundscapes: “While guitars, drum kits and live percussion appear on many tracks, the ear will struggle to pinpoint the possible sources of the unique sounds comprising Dusker.”
“Dusker” is available as a special Digipack edition or as a high-quality digital download directly from Ghostly International.
