Christopher Willits & Ryuichi Sakamoto: Ocean Fire burns on 12k
TobiasFor Christopher Willits, „Ocean Fire“, even though it is effectively released in this year, puts the crown on a highly productive and succesul 2007. The previous twelve months saw him solidify his position as a purveyor of both beauty and experimentation, a video director and a musician, a composer and performer, an artist and organisor, bringing together different scenes on his platform Overlap.org. Releasing „Ocean Fire“ on 12k seemed like an obvious choice, after the outfit had already released his widely acclaimed collaboration with Taylor Deupree, „Listening Garden“. Local TV station XLR8R TV is now even airing a documentary which demonstrates Willits' approach to composing.
To Ryuichi Sakamoto, meanwhile, the album is a more subtle form of rasing social awareness, after political activity in his native Japan, where he protested against the opening of a nuclear power plant.
