CD Feature: ARTRIDGE – „Finished Soundtracks For Unshot Films“
TobiasIn November 2004, the Berlin based project Artridge (Robin Pleil and Christoph Mainz) released their „Finished Soundtracks For Unshot Films“ - a compilation of sundry (straight-lined and clean) electronic and even guitar driven varieties of contemporary music. Every track conjuring a different image in the listener’s mind. Ranging from the rhythmic „Blade Runner“-beat-machine of the opener to several orchestral arrangements that could easily fit in a spooky film noir with more fog and actors balancing on a ledge than story line. In between you could find yourself in a wicked back road club gazing at a reincarnated outraging Jimi Hendrix eating razor blades and setting the whole scene on fire.
So, the presented atmospheres are manifold without any apparent thematic thread and change so fast - Speedy Gonzales himself would get envious. Both musicians speak of „flawlessy engineered“ music and after a taste of this piece you‘ll totally agree with them. Here you have two technical pros that exclude every unwanted side noise and integrate their ideas with such a skill – it can be really dizzy sometimes.
