CD Feature/ Monos: "Generators"
TobiasA two-CD-set by Colin Potter and Darren Tate aka Monos. Did you like Tangerine Dream’s „Zeit“? Yes? Great! No? Forget about disc one! Actually, for this review in general: forget about disc one.
„The Black Sea“ which fills the whole second one is the thing you have to hear. Or better said: to experience. Sounds effusively? It was meant effusively! „The Black Sea“ sounds exactly as the title indicates. Here you have 48 minutes of dark murky sonic waves. Don’t get me wrong: disc number one is simply the wait at the shore; the gaze out on the sea. But even the eyes crave for the water – so don’t hesitate for too long. „The Black Sea“ really catches you, swallows you – but won’t harm you at any time. It’s not an uproaring journey but when you dive for a while and did not forget your undersea-candles and diving goggles you can catch a blurred adumbration of the Marie Celeste. But I just give you a small hint: don’t stay underwater for too long.
Take a look at the sky above – or at the wooden boats upon the waving surface. „The Black Sea“ is a masterpiece – with a good prefixed bonus or warm-up disc. Take a dive.
