Caspian: Return from Tour, Re-release "The Four Trees", prepare for new album
TobiasIt is easy to see why Caspian have been hailed as one of the leaders of the new wave of postrock bands. Their compact and tight band sound is achingly romantic and epic, eschewing experiments in favour of an arousing cocktail of triumphant Guitar palpitations, gentle electronics and energetic drumming. Even though the formation operates within traditional song structures, they are capable of carving cinematic qualities out of an extremely focussed line-up. Compared to the tracks of some of their colleagues, the pieces of “The Four Trees” and “You are the Conductor” are decidedly going somewhere without sounding formulaic or trivial.
Caspian’s Winter tour took them to Vienna, Prague and Berlin and alligned them firmly with the equally thriving European scene, performing, for example, with bands like I am the Architect in Frankfurt. The resolution to follow up “You are the Conductor” with a new album scheduled for release in mid-2009 was mainly inspired by the positive feedback collected on the road and should culminate in a concentrated period of carefully preparing for the next phase in the Caspian story: “Over the next 5 or so months we will be playing one show only and we're proud to announce our involvement in Radar Recordings' 6th Annual Last Night on Earth, happening December 30 at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. This is always and forever the best show of the year!!!”
